Bangladesh Technical College - Jessore 5.14

BTC was established on 04 July, 2010 with a view to operating mid-level academic courses on science & technology. Since then BTC has been successfully operating various long academic courses. This is a full fledged technical college which is offering science & technology based education. BTC is absolutely free from student politics & students’ union in order to maintain proper academic environment.

Status of Affiliation:

BTC is a private college. The college is affiliated with Bangladesh Technical Education Board, Dhaka.

Objectives:

Wide expansion of science & technology is the demand of the age in order to meet the challenge of the 21st century. Enormous employment opportunities are being frequently created in these sectors. But it is our ill luck that we are in backward position in respect of science & technology based education in comparison to other countries. While there is a serious scarcity of skilled manpower in our country, the number of unemployed people having general education is increasing very rapidly. Traditional system of general education can not produce skilled manpower. As such operation of academic courses based on science & technology with a view to creating skilled manpower is the objective of BTC.

1. On-going:

The following courses are in operation now in BTC:

Diploma in Textile Engineering : 4 years course affiliated with BTEB, Dhaka
Diploma in Garments Design & Pattern Making Technology : 4 years course affiliated with BTEB, Dhaka
Diploma in Civil Engineering 4 years course affiliated with BTEB, Dhaka
Diploma in Electrical Engineering 4 years course affiliated with BTEB, Dhaka
Diploma in Computer Engineering 4 years course affiliated with BTEB, Dhaka
2. Proposed:

BTC plans to introduce the following courses in phases:

Diploma in Marine Engineering
Diploma in Shipbuilding Engineering
Diploma in Architecture & Interior Design
Diploma in Telecommunication Engineering
Diploma in Chemical Engineering
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

Number of students:

Classes of BTC started on 02 October 2010 with 47 students. At present nearly 350 students from 28 districts have been studying in BTC.

Laboratories:

BTC has the following well-equipped laboratories:

Garments & Textile Engineering Lab
Electrical, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering Lab
Natural Science (Physics & Chemistry) Lab
Computer Engineering & Technology Lab
Engineering Drawing Lab
Chemical Engineering Lab

Free Internet Browsing:

Full time internet connections are available in the Computer Lab. The students can use the internet at any free time without any charge.

Library:

BTC has a rich library. The students can study in the library. They can also borrow books from the library.

Teaching & Examination Systems:

The merits of the students are assessed through class tests, tutorials, quiz, oral tests, attendance & continuous assessments. For the control of examinations BTC has a separate section consisting of Controller of Examinations & some Deputy Controller of Examinations. Intensive & Supervised teaching methods are followed. As a result there is no need for a student to go to a private teacher. In order to develop the standard of education & ensure accountability of the faculty members, the students are to fill up Teachers' Evaluation Forms (TEF). Scholarships are awarded to the students occupying from 1st to 3rd positions in the merit list in 1st to 3rd semester examinations. Prizes are awarded on the basis of attendance of students in classes from 4th to 7th semesters. Moreover in every year a student is selected as the 'Student of the year' and is rewarded with a gold medal, crest and certificate of honor.

Recreation, Sports & Co-curricular Activities:

In order to prepare the students to face the challenge of the working lives the following 16 (Sixteen) clubs are operated side by side of academic curriculum:

The students are not to pay anything for attending these clubs. Classes on English are held in order to make the students fluent in English. Apart from observing various National Programs, Annual Picnic, Nabin Baron, Farewell Ceremony. Sports, Extempore Speech & Debating Competitions both in Bangla & English are held on different occasions. Bangla Wall Magazine, English Wall Magazine & Little Magazine are published regularly.

Residential facilities:

There is a Students' Welfare Officer whose one of the tasks is to solve the accommodation problem of the students .Separate messes for male & female students are available around BTC.

Class Rooms:

BTC has sufficient class rooms.

BTC Job Searching Center:

BTC Job Searching Center headed by a Job Searching Officer is operated in BTC in order to provide the job-seeking students free of cost with up-to-date information of jobs using internet & print media.

BTC Students Net:

Admission in Foreign Universities in USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Finland, Sweden, Malaysia, Ireland, Cyprus, New Zealand, Poland, Lithuania & other countries including visa processing are done without any service charge.

Conclusion:

When a student joins the BTC, he/she joins the students from all corners of Bangladesh having a common dream of getting proper education & finally a good employment.
